How to Get Straighter Teeth Without Braces

Crooked teeth can ruin an otherwise gorgeous smile. Unfortunately, many of us don’t have the time or energy to go through the process of getting braces. Luckily, many alternative treatments can give you the perfect smile you’ve always desired.

Our dental practitioners at Brightwork Family Dentistry, located in Richmond, Virginia, are here to cover all of your dental care needs. That’s why we’ve compiled this helpful guide highlighting alternatives to braces for straightening your teeth.

ClearCorrect

We’re proud to offer ClearCorrect as a popular alternative method for straightening your teeth. Instead of using uncomfortable metal wires and brackets, ClearCorrect uses custom made lightweight trays crafted from a patented material that fits over your teeth.

Aligners move your teeth into place over time. During the process, you’ll proceed through a series of aligners, each made to straighten your teeth throughout your treatment gradually.

ClearCorrect aligners are also removable. So, while you do need to wear them for most of the day, they can be removed for cleaning, eating, brushing, and flossing. The nice thing about ClearCorrect is that while it costs the same as metal braces, the process is quicker, more accurate, and much more comfortable.

While the aligners are removable, you need to wear them all day, taking them out only when you are eating, brushing and flossing, or cleaning the aligners. The length of your treatment depends on the state of your teeth.

Cosmetic dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry includes any elective dental procedures that improve the appearance of your smile. That includes treatments like bonding and contouring your teeth to make them appear more aligned and straight. Cosmetic dentistry can also fix gaps between your teeth and chipped or broken teeth.

If you are looking for perfectly straight teeth and a bright, Hollywood smile, opt for veneers. Veneers are thin coverings, fashioned to bond snugly over your teeth. Because we do have to file your teeth to attach the veneers, the process is permanent. But, the gorgeous smile they produce is worth it!

Don’t try straightening your teeth at home

While there are many excellent professional treatments for straightening your teeth, you should certainly not try any home remedies or DIY treatments found on the internet. Doing so can have serious consequences. For example, teeth can become cracked, chipped, or weakened, or you can cause irreversible damage to your jaw.

Unregulated DIY kits can also break your teeth at their roots, leading to tooth decay and infection. So, when it comes to teeth straightening, it’s imperative to stick with professional treatments like the ones offered at our office.
